Veneers

Before After

Porcelain is the best material to mimic the natural enamel of your teeth in terms of translucency, color and strength.  We can create the most natural looking smile possible with porcelain veneers.  When I do a smile make-over, I do my best to create the natural smile that is unique to each patient according to her or his personality.  The worst thing you could do is to create a bright white unnatural veneers that everyone can tell these are veneers.

The porcelain veneer treatment usually involves minimum of four teeth (and up to ten) to achieve a good result and requires two visits to the office.

CASE #1

The patient presented with short teeth with spaces that are worn down due to bruxism (teeth grinding).  Cosmetic periodontal treatment (crown lengthening in this case) was recommended to make teeth longer for better height-to-width ratio without creating excessive overbite.  I discussed with the patient and she agreed to do crown lengthening procedure prior to the veneer treatment.

Crown Lengthening

Note the improvement from the crown lengthening procedure alone.  This procedure was done by a specialist, Dr. Mark Redd – an excellent periodontist whom I have worked with for a long time.

After Placement of 6 Veneers

Note the excellent gum health around porcelain veneers and natural color and shape.  A very happy patient!!

CASE #2

This patient presented old bonding on two front teeth and small left side front tooth.  Patient wanted to do the least number of veneers.  I usually recommend four veneers for symmetry, but the patient wanted to do only three and make the third one identical to the natural tooth on the opposite side – a very difficult job.  I have worked with my technician to achieve the best match possible in color, translucency and shape.  Final result was outstanding.  You can’t even tell which one is natural and which is porcelain.  We placed veneers on three left front teeth in case you cannot tell...J  Still I would not recommend odd numbers of veneers because it is not always possible to achieve this result.

CASE #3

Four porcelain veneers were placed to replace old stained bonding and worn teeth.  Note the natural translucency and shade of porcelain veneers.  This patient was a great candidate for a cosmetic periodontal treatment to correct the uneven gum line, but patient did not want to do it.  Other than slight uneven gum line, the veneers looked great!

CASE #4

This patient presented with old bonding on four front teeth.  This is a more conventional case – four veneers.  We replaced the discolored bonding with porcelain veneers.

CASE #5

Similar case to above.  Old discolored bonding on four front teeth.  We replaced them with porcelain veneers and the result looks great.  Note the slightly better height-to-width ratio without making the teeth longer.

CASE #6

This patient presented with a large space between two front teeth that were too big to close with just bonding procedure.  Note the extra gum tissue between two front teeth.  We did four porcelain veneers with gingivectomy.  The gingivectomy procedure was done by myself in this case.  Note the excellent gum adaptation to the new porcelain veneers as well as natural translucency and color.

CASE #7

This patient presented with very old veneers that finally came off.  Patient has tetracycline stained teeth.  We replaced old veneers and did 6 teeth with porcelain veneers.  Because of the underlying dark stain from tetracycline, we had to use opaque block-out layer which made the veneers appear less translucent and natural than I would have liked.
